The Confidentiality of Therapy

Are you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? Nobody should have to go through the physical and emotional stress that comes with a lack of restorative sleep. But, when you are suffering from insomnia, chronic pain, nightmares, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other related issues, sleep can be hard to achieve. However, the right therapy plan at the office of Dr. Jay R. Goldman may just be what you need to turn things around. That way, you can start the road to recovery, by achieving some restful sleep.

Many people ask Dr. Jay R. Goldman about the confidentiality of therapy. Generally, no information can be shared without express written permission from the client. However, the following exceptions do exist:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.
  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.

Therapy can be the biggest step you take in recovering from a major or difficult life change. Just because you have dealt with previous problems on your own, doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with getting extra help now. Dr. Jay R. Goldman will be happy to help you get back on the path towards an improved quality of life. The only thing that is for sure is that you shouldn’t have to suffer alone anymore. Contact Dr. Jay R. Goldman, today, and set up your appointment.
